This sculptural Chandelier is part of the Pressed Wood series of furniture by Johannes Hemann, built on the concept of applying pressure to freshly cut wood to split and break down its fibres. The separation technique allows for considerably smaller radii with the branches in use while changing the natural round base of the tree limbs into more rectangular shapes. Following that, the wood is steamed, bending it in combination with glue as they are pressed into moulds to create the structural framework of the furniture objects.
