Pressed Wood Side-Table in Black is part of the Pressed Wood series of furniture by Johannes Hemann, built on the concept of applying pressure to freshly cut wood to split and break down its fibres. The separation technique allows for considerably smaller radii with the branches in use while changing the natural circular base of the tree limbs into more rectangular shapes. Following that, the classic bending process of steaming the wood and bending it into moulds is employed. Finally, the fibrous wood gets pressed into the mould with glue to create the structural framework of the pieces.
