Reflect is crafted from 3mm diameter short-cut steel wires, arranged side by side and hand-soldered. Each small wire piece is placed manually, creating a composition that is both literal and symbolic.
Johannes Hemann’s work reflects aspects of our society and the nature of human coexistence. The light object is composed of countless individual parts—only through the assembly of many separate elements can the overall structure emerge. In much the same way, society is made up of numerous individuals. In Hemann’s creation, every single piece matters—without one, the whole structure risks collapsing. It is a fragile construction, much like our society—dependent on each individual to hold it together.
