COIL is a modular cabinet system in which a semi-transparent curtain made of vertical and parallel woven elastic rope wraps around a base. The COIL redefines the cabinet as an object in its use. It is a hybrid between a classic open rack and a display cabinet which one can access from all sides. The top and bottom shelf of the cabinet have a particular cut-out curve at the edge that allows the stretched elastic to be inserted and then relaxes neatly in the recessed opening.

Due to its modular construction, the coil can vary in height.
