    Claymoon

Claymoon holds a particular fascination with the aesthetic and functional properties of clay, and one that began when Adam Weismann, along with his wife Katy Bryce, founded Clayworks in 2010 – breathable clay plaster finishes made in Cornwall from raw materials. Clayworks came from a shared love of nature and a belief in natural and sustainable building practices. Weismann and Bryce travelled the world to learn about vernacular traditions of building with clay and whilst initially focussed on the integrity and performance of the material, they also saw the capacity of natural materials to affect the way we experience the spaces we inhabit. This fascination has continued into the work of Claymoon, which also passively effect the environment in the space in which they are shown.

Claymoon is a series of hand-formed clay artworks by Adam Weismann and Studio that speak of the rhythms of nature, the beauty of imperfection and the processes of deep time.

Made using vernacular building techniques such as ‘rammed earth’, and encased in brass and walnut frames, the monolithic forms feature muted tones using earth pigments.

They have been created with the intention of being meditative, contemplative, raw and elemental — inviting the viewer to find a state of ‘soft fascination’.
