Francesc Ruiz Abad

Francesc Ruiz Abad is a ceramic artist from Spain whose practice combines humour, time, and adventure with contrasting and jarring methods in a playful way. Abad employs a myriad of image-making techniques, primarily but not exclusively painting and drawing.

Over the last eight years, he travelled globally, engaging in residencies, projects, and exhibitions. Abad showcased his work exclusively in Pouvoir et Fatigue, Le Beffroi (Montrouge, 2019), Still Cuba (La Habana, 2019), Night on Earth, Mannerheim Gallery (Paris, 2018), A la corda fluixa, Ana Mas Projects (Barcelona, 2018) Copy to Learn, Learn to Copy, The Lodge Gallery (Los Angeles, 2017), I Didn’t Know I Was Collecting, Arranz Bravo Foundation (L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, 2016).

GfZk, Fabra I Coats and Vila Casas Foundation have had group exhibitions featuring his work. Abad is an author of several publications and has given lectures such as Paper Exhibitions, MoMA PS1 (New York City, 2016) and Hiding Maps, Yarat Art Center (Baku, 2014)
