    Leo Rydell Jost

Rydell’s artwork balances between a visual approach and pleasurable home living. He applies to his work a double use, going beyond merely aesthetic objects to functional art. The theme behind most of his work lies in between nature and body studies, approaching this way visual entertainment in the form of qualitative objects. Colorful works remarking the importance of avoiding boring tones. “I find the amount of grey, brown, and beige that goes into what’s supposed to be elegant home decor tends to be overwhelming. Sexy-joyful-fun is always the concept in my mind when composing colorful new pieces”

The beginning of his career began when self-publishing Colored Dudes, which featured anatomy studies illustrations in 2014, the book sold out worldwide in 48 hours. Rugs For Oprah was the name of his first solo show in Madrid at La Fresh Gallery, followed by Wonder By Wonder in Berlin at P7 Gallery, both in 2018. In 2017 his tapestry rug Rose Dipped was featured in the group exhibition Pink, curated by Luis Venegas at Colette in Paris, also featuring Nan Goldin, Inez and Vinoodh, Juergen Teller, among many others. In 2016 commissioned artworks were included in the J.W.Anderson book The Rain In Spain Stays Mainly In The Plain.

For the last 2 years Leo has made presentations of his new work during Salone del Mobile at Alcova, in Milan.
Rydell also designs leather goods and has worked with luxury houses like Bottega Veneta, and Loewe among others.
