For Lucas Zito, design is a balance between aesthetics, functionality and material efficiency where digital technologies and experimentation open new possibilities for sculptural forms, lightness and scale.
Lucas Zito is a French designer and graduate of Design Academy Eindhoven who returned to Paris in 2019 to establish his practice. Working at the intersection of contemporary design, technology and sustainability, he explores the possibilities of 3D printing through an experimental approach to materials, form and functionality.
Specialising in sculptural lighting, Zito works primarily with reclaimed and bio-based plastics, using digital fabrication to create lightweight, modular structures with minimal material consumption. His signature Buoy collection, introduced in 2021, draws inspiration from the principle of buoyancy, exploring the relationship between lightness, stability and scale. Designed and produced in Paris, the collection includes the monumental Buoy Monumenta series, whose architectural compositions can extend beyond six metres while maintaining a sense of weightlessness.
