Crafted from a single block of reclaimed wood, each piece is as unique as the tree that preceded it. Designed through the deconstruction of the perfect form — the sphere — it pays homage to both pre-Columbian and Japanese culture through its shapes, such as the three-leg bases found in molcajetes and petates, and through its techniques. Sculpture made design.
This version is presented as a limited series of five pieces carved in capulín, a mexican cherry wood with profound historical relevance. Capulín held an important place in the daily life and diet of the pre-Hispanic peoples of the Valley of Mexico, and it remains one of the country’s finest native woods — dense, durable, and rich in tone.
