Pieter Maes

Pieter Maes is a Belgian designer based in Pairs whose work includes furniture collections and limited editions for renowned brands and design galleries. Maes was born in Antwerp and attended the Design Academy Eindhoven. Sculptural quality and tactile consistency characterise his works, which draw inspiration from the intuitive understanding of the ancient artefacts and timeless designs. His pieces often portray a contrasted appreciation for furniture that can either conform to traditional norms or completely defy them. This dichotomy enables both diligence and the spirit of reverie, to coexist.

Keiichi Tanaka

Keiichi Tanaka is a ceramic artist based in Saitama, Japan. Through his works, Tanaka aspires to create an ambience that evokes a sense of "time accumulation" - objects that appear to have existed for a very long period. He makes his ceramic artworks using slab techniques paired with his original metallic glazes and hopes to esteem the attractions in the textures of ancient ceramics. Tanaka is fascinated with the beauty of functioning objects and shapes produced by the objects when in use. He strives to create artworks whose form hints at its context, implying a presence based on its inevitability. &nbsp;

Apparatus Studio

APPARATUS, a New York-based design studio, explores the relationship between lighting, furniture, and objects in immersive environments, connecting the historical and cultural through a contemporary lens. Gabriel Hendifar, the creative director, approaches the work as a narrative, using a lexicon of desire and emotional response. The studio is an ever-evolving articulation of considered spaces and the things that dwell within them, inspired by the modernist notion of a complete work of art. Each sculptural piece is hand-finished and assembled in a historic New York space that houses the gallery, development, and production, following a legacy of studio craftsmanship.&nbsp;

<blockquote>Editions 8888, curator and creator of visionary objects.</blockquote>Editions 8888 presents a collection of objects inspired by the Quebec counterculture, brutalism, postmodernism, noise, punk, metal music, and sci-fi by bringing together more than 25 Quebec producers under the theme Wet Metal.<blockquote>&nbsp;"The intention of 8888 is to create a collective, to aim to set up a Quebec artistic movement, to provoke,” says Gadoua. “I am interested in everything, so I can not just stop at the furniture. I want to edit everything, whether it is a table or a perfume.”</blockquote>Gadoua espouses a dark and bold aesthetic, influenced by counterculture along with revolutionary artistic and political movements. Nods to brutalism and postmodernism combined with bursts of noise, punk and metal music, and sci-fi visuals collide with designs right out of 1980s skateboarding culture.

Studio Joachim-Monineau

Studio JOACHIM-MORINEAU is a design studio founded by Carla Joachim (FR) and Jordan Morineau (FR), based in Eindhoven (NL). Their work is a mix of crafts, industrial techniques and technology. They use experimentation to push the limits of each field. Carla and Jordan first collaborated during their studies at ENSAAMA in Paris. They moved to the Design Academy Eindhoven, where they both earned honours degrees in 2018 from Man and Activity. The duo shared their capstone project, Moca, which served as the foundation for the business. The creation of their studio enabled them to genuinely and unrestrictedly employ their imagination.They aspire to research new techniques and collaborate with artisans and industries from different parts of the world to bring surprising outcomes.

Thomas Trad

Thomas Trad is a Beirut-based product designer. His aesthetics comes from his fascination with manufacturing processes, craftsmanship, and the beauty of materials. Trad, an alumnus of Central Saint Martins in London, worked for renowned firm Fredrikson Stallard and Michael Anastassiades before returning to Beirut in 2016 to start his eponymous design studio.Trad expresses his aesthetic sensibilities through furniture that is both poetic and structural, with organic curves meeting abstract forms.&nbsp; He employs an experimental approach to materials when creating his growing collection. Trad graduated from Kyoto's Suikoushya International Craft School, where he pursued his interest in building processes through traditional and contemporary approaches.

A-N-D is a decorative luminaire design studio and manufacturer based in Vancouver, Canada where original collections are conceptualized, built and assembled in-house. &nbsp;A-N-D investigates new design possibilities using innovative production methods while integrating the most current technologies in lighting. <h3 style="text-align:center;">About the Co-founders</h3>&nbsp;LUKAS PEET&nbsp;Lukas Peet practices his craft with sophistication and fluidity that bears the mark of a Design Academy Eindhoven alumni. He has been recognized internationally in a number of awards and competitions, most notably for the Winner of Canada’s Emerging Designer Award. His designs have been produced by international manufacturers such as Roll &amp; Hill. To A-N-D, Lukas brings a vast curiosity about objects, processes, materials and production techniques; he brings a desire to challenge the familiar and the normative, and everything in between.Series for A-N-D: Button, Orbit, Pebble, Pivot, Slab, Spotlight Volumes, Column, Lobe&nbsp;CAINE HEINTZMAN&nbsp;Caine Heintzman is a designer exploring various mediums as he applies rigorous material research, technical know-how, and a comprehensive understanding of lighting technology to an artful practice. His training at ECUAD and Kunsthochschule Berlin Weissensee has allowed him to hone a methodical process in which he interrogates the relationship between functional art object and space to design in a way that accentuates the built environment. ANDlight has established itself as a brand with substance since its start in 2014, with an authentic approach to the design process, production, and business practices. This experimental hub based in Brussels - Belgium, blurs the lines between Art and Design, showcasing a unique aesthetic born from their shared passion for refined craftsmanship.&nbsp;Their collaboration merges Bilal's background in Fashion as a Creative Windows Dresser with Jerome's experience in Creative Design for the digital industry. With several years' experience in the creative world, their eye has been sharpened, and today they sculpt and craft objects together, infusing them with artistic sensibility and professional expertise. Employing mixed lightweight materials and varied techniques, they explore shapes and volumes, achieving a delicate balance between sculptural containment and bodily intimacy. Their creations, inspired by nature, animals, and bodies, evoke a universe characterized by both order and chaos. Driven by a relentless pursuit of innovation, Bilal and Jerome's curiosity extends to realms such as Arts, architecture, and photography fueling their works.&nbsp;Bilal Salmi&nbsp;&nbsp;Born in Belgium. Bilal worked frantically for many years in the fashion industry as a creative at Ralph Lauren Benelux and as a window designer, notably for the Giorgio Armani Group, staging luxury products. Over time, he felt a natural need to return to simplicity and the slowness of expressing himself visually, artistically, and always manually through more personal projects in sculpture. Bilal imagines and creates objects and sculptures, by working delicately on their shapes and forms.&nbsp;Jerome Dieu&nbsp;&nbsp;Born in Belgium. Trained as a User Interface and User Experience Designer, and working in the digital industry for nearly 15 years. His passion for digital has given him the opportunity to work for a number of agencies and organizations in Brussels, London, and Antwerp. Craftsman from an early age, and passionate about materials and their technical processing, Jerome works on the research and development of innovative techniques (materials, techniques exploration, etc.) and meticulous craftsmanship.

Cells and molecules, as well as Arabic writing and geometry, are among the themes explored. Javed's artwork places itself between practical and sculptural, emphasizing the form and natural state of the clay. All of the objects are handcrafted using pinch, coil, and slab techniques. Each object is painstakingly created with a range of clays to give each object life.

<h2 style="text-align:center;">AHU</h2>&nbsp;Based in London and Istanbul, female-founded design studio Ahu creates contemporary collectible furniture and objects inspired by the traditions and mysticism of Asia Minor. Each limited edition piece is hand made in Istanbul by master craftsmen in historic, specialised ateliers, blending the best local artisanship with innovative production technologies. Founded by longtime friends and Central Saint Martins alumni Eda Akaltun and Mevce Çıracı, their respective backgrounds in visual arts and product design are tied together in their ability to refine culture and craftsmanship to create pieces that tell a story. Their work combines unique marbling paintings made by hand with contemporary furniture design, which seamlessly merges utility and luxury.&nbsp;&nbsp;The duo create collections that imbue spaces with symbols of luck and talismans of good fortune. Each piece is a functional work of art, designed to showcase the room in which it is placed. The first collection is inspired by ikram, the Turkish tradition of offering guests boundless hospitality. The visual starting point for the whole collection is nazar, the evil eye, and comprises cabinets, coffee tables, side tables and objects. Ahu’s unique creations are made to order.&nbsp;

<h3 style="margin-left:0px;text-align:center;">Design Process</h3>&nbsp;Ahu combines 25 years of international experience in product design and visual arts to appreciate and honour the storied culture and traditions of its heritage, breathing new life into pieces that offer a contemporary view of what Turkish design can be. Istanbul’s rich history of craftsmanship is celebrated in each piece which is made in third generation small workshops scattered around the city. Eda and Mevce navigate this complex network and work within a language of artisanship that is not only relevant to the place of Ahu’s origin, but also respectful of the longevity of the pieces.
