Overview
Alexandra Madirazza is a Danish architect who has been working independently for the past four years through her studio, Atelier Madirazza, with a strong focus on sculpture.

Her greatest interest and ultimately what her work explores is the relationship between art and the space it inhabits, and how each shapes the other. Operating at the intersection of art, architecture and design, she creates pieces that respond or relate to their surroundings and that invite the viewer to take physical position in relation to them.

The sculptural mirrors Madirazza creates embody this approach. Two large pieces of marble in front of the mirror are at once brutal and poetic, while also acting as a provocation - their forms partially obscure the reflection. To see oneself, the viewer must move and navigate around the stone, initiating a dialogue between body, object and space. In this interaction, one becomes aware of the room, the mirror and themselves, all three alive.

Each mirror is unique. With a strong environmental consideration, the stones are carefully sourced from residual materials at Danish quarries, then cut and reassembled into new compositions.
