Atelier Pendhapa seeks to preserve the art of conversations, collaboration and intentionality while exploring new territories and creating forms that challenge convention. Across scales, the studio’s work is guided by a pursuit of timelessness.
Founded in 2019 by architects Antonin Hautefort and Ignatio Tengarra, the studio reflects cross-cultural dialogue shaped by their French and Indonesian heritage. Pendhapa emerges from this exchange, grounded in a shared vision. At the core of their practice is a strong commitment to contextual understanding, an openness to multiple perspectives, and a dedication to engaging fundamental human qualities.
The name Pendhapa is derived from the iconic vernacular structure found throughout Indonesia, embodying the essence of the studio’s approach. Traditionally used for communal gatherings, this architectural form adapts to different contexts, evolving in materials and expression across environments while remaining true to its underlying spirit.
