Atelier Contour designs and creates interiors, furniture and objects. In the design process, the studio always looks for new starting points, approaches or perspectives in order to achieve a diversity of design solutions. Craftsmanship and the honest use of materials always come first.
Atelier Contour works with a restrained design language that reconsiders value through reuse. The studio transforms residual wooden beams from industrial drying ovens - materials marked by heat, pressure, and time - into furniture that retains the memory of its previous function.
Rather than concealing these traces, carving and controlled burning allow the cubic imprints of lamination to recede, while contrasts between rough and smooth surfaces emerge. Asymmetrical compositions prevent the pieces from settling into fixed typologies.
Through texture and surface treatment, wood species often considered inferior are re-evaluated. Minimal intervention becomes both an aesthetic and ecological strategy, extending the material’s life while redefining its status.
