Overview
The artist Gregory Ryan combines an artistic and philosophical vision with the inventive use of new technologies, mathematical algorithms and age-old bronze casting techniques. He acquired this expertise over sixteen years working in an industrial bronze foundry outside Paris after graduating from the École des Beaux-Arts.
Today, Ryan casts all his pieces in his own foundry and teaches sculpture and bronze casting at Parsons School of Design and the Paris College of Art. His mission is to celebrate and preserve both nature and the traditions of bronze casting. Deeply fascinated by the complexity and the beauty of the natural world, he seeks to reveal what lies beneath the surface of things, suggesting a contemporary vision of bronze as a medium that carries memory and permanence. Through his practice, he positions bronze not only as a material of tradition but also as a language for contemporary reflection. His work often engages with long temporal scales, emphasizing transformation, endurance and the invisible structures that shape natural forms.
