A suspended mobile titled ‘One Third of the Time’, is crafted from a rare meteorite fragment that fell in China in 1998, composed of gold and iridium.
The title One Third of the Time refers to the timespan between the Bign Bang and the present—approximately 13.8 billion years. This meteorite is estimated to be 4.2 billion years old, representing roughly one third of that cosmic duration since the formation of the universe.
The irony of the work lies in suspending this fragment once again, after its long and turbulent journey through space and its eventual fall to Earth.
