Overview
Christopher Merchant is a self-taught designer and maker who founded his design practice in New York City after several years of working in the city's design industry.
His studio is rooted in his original collection of experimental, material-focused ceramic furniture and lighting and has expanded to include a range of materials and manufacturing partnerships. Drawing together past training in furniture design, physics, and biochemistry, his work is inspired by naturally ocurring geometric formations. He focuses on the dramatic variations that occur when rigid geometry is applied to natural materials and processes.
