House Editions is a ceramic design and production studio offering pieces of the “refined domestic” objects that balance strength and fragility, functionality and sculptural presence. Founded by designer Claudia Lau, the studio is rooted between Melbourne and Jingdezhen, engaging directly with the long tradition of porcelain production in one of the world’s most historic ceramic centres.
Their practice blends and reinterprets classical ceramic processes, working between uniqueness and modularity. Handcraft remains central, supported by collaboration with skilled craftspeople and kiln specialists, as well as deep engagement with material research and making processes. Each object is developed through a process led approach where proportion, glaze and surface are carefully tested and refined.
House Editions continues the porcelain tradition of Jingdezhen, using it as a foundation to construct a dialogue between preservation and reinvention. Classical motifs are not replicated but re-examined, creating new relationships between heritage and experimentation. The studio’s work reflects a sensitivity to glaze behaviour, light and surface, where subtle variations become central to the identity of each piece. By combining traditional materials and techniques with contemporary design thinking, House Editions produces elevated everyday objects that sit between utility and sculpture.
